Ingredients:
8 oz of dried elbow macaroni or any short cut pasta
8 oz (2 cups) grated sharp cheddar cheese
4 oz (1 cup) grated mozarella cheese or colby cheese
4 Tbsp butter
4 Tbsp flour
1/2 tsp onion powder
2-1/4 cups of milk
1/2 tsp of salt, or to taste
black pepper, to taste

Jonny do i double this recipe if i’m using a 16 oz box of pasta
Try adding a tablespoon each of prepared yellow mustard and grated Parmesan cheese. They give it just a little extra “zip.” For even more zip, use cultured buttermilk instead of milk. Good stuff!

This is great! Super easy! And it tastes great
Many of us that grew up eating box mac and cheese do not like baked style. One of the issues I find is the use of flour. No matter if it is made stove top or baked I flat out hate the grainy cheese sauce. I can make roux. From blonde all the way to dark, I make a lot of New Orleans style dishes. Rouxs shouldn’t go into stove top mac and cheese. I have experimented using what Kraft used. Corn starch. You can get that thinner creamier sauce with cornstarch that will thicken as it cools like the box style.O just haven;t figured the cheese to processed cheese ratio. The box style has a little tang to it. My next experiment will be added a little sour cream to the dish. Not enough to change the taste much. Just give it a little tang like the box style.
