Bottle gourd adai is a healthy & tasty adai made with lentils & some spices, with grated Sorakkai as Topping. lentils are packed with rich protein & fibre content.
Idly rice – 1 cup
Tur Dhal – 1/2 cup
Bottle gourd pieces – 2 cup
garlic cloves – 7 to 8
green chilies – 3
Red chilies – 8
Coriander seeds – 1 Tbspn
Cumin seeds (Jeera) – 1 Tspn.
Asafoetida – 1/4 Tspn
First soak the rice and Tur dhal for 1 hour. Then blend the garlic, green chilies, coriander leaves, red chilies, coriander seeds, cumin seeds with little amount of rice and tur dhal in a mixie. Blend it coarsely. Then add little bottle gourd pieces with the coarsely grinded powder and blend it to fine paste by adding little water.
Now blend the remaining rice and tur dhal with 1/2 cup water, salt and little asafoetida as a adai batter. Add the masala grinded batter with the adai batter. Add little water and add chopped onions. Add chopped coriander and curry leaves. Mix the batter well. Adai can be prepared immediately or after an hour, once the batter is ready.
Now pour the batter in the dosa tawa. Apply oil on the edges. Flip the adai to other side. Now the bottle gourd Adai is ready.
