Chinese Spicy Chicken (Asian, Chinese Spicy Chicken Recipe) With Honey

Chinese Spicy Chicken

It’s sweet, it’s tender. But do be cautious as it’s fiery, too! Just like me!

8 Chicken Drumsticks
2 Tbsp Clear Honey
1 Spring Onion
4 Cloves Garlic
½cm Ginger
1 Tsp Sichuan Peppercorns
7 Dried Chillies
2 Tbsp Dark Soy Sauce
Salt to Taste

1. Cut off the knuckles from each drumstick and then cut into 2 equal sized pieces
2. Place on a dish for later
3. Finely chop the garlic, ginger and spring onion
4. Heat 2 Tbsp oil in a wok
5. Add chillies and peppercorn and fry for a few seconds
6. Add ginger, garlic and half the spring onion then fry for few seconds
7. Add chicken and fry for 5 minutes until the meat turned white
8. Pour soy sauce over the chicken and stir for an even coverage
9. Fry for a minute and then place a lid onto the wok
10. Reduce heat to lowest setting and cook for 25 to 30 minutes until the meat is cooked
11. Stir regularly during this period and then replace lid after
12. Turn heat to high once the meat is tender
13. Add salt to your taste and honey
14. Stir fry for a minute
15. Transfer onto a dish, garnish with the remaining spring onion and serve
