General Tso’s Chicken Ingrediens:
Serves 4

Marinade for the Chicken
1 lb. Boneless & skinless chicken breast, cut into 1-inch cubes
1 tsp. Baking soda
1/4 tsp. Black pepper
2 tsp. Shaoxing wine (Chinese cooking wine) http://amzn.to/1Hjxlez

For the Sauce
2 Tbs. Sugar
1 Tbs. Sambal
1 Tbs. Soy sauce
3 Tbs. White vinegar
2 Tbs. Shaoxing wine (Chinese cooking wine) http://amzn.to/1Hjxlez
1/4 cup Chicken stock
1 tsp. Corn starch

For the Batter
1 egg
1/4 cup Corn starch

For Frying & Stir-fry
Frying oil
2 tsp. Chili oil with chili flakes
5 to 6 dried chili
4 Cloves garlic, roughly chopped

This is not an authentic Chinese dish, probably invented by Chinese in the US. It is one of the most popular dishes at Western Chinese takeout restaurants, and a favorite of mine. It is popular because it tastes good! This version looks to be better than most, due to being cooked in fresh oil and with lots of chilies, and not diluted with vegetables.

It has become one of my favourites by now. Last time I added some broccoli (as asked for, below. (To be seen in my answer on that.) Since I’m kinda adventurous:
@Seonkyoung: next time I wanna add some 10 morello (also called sour) cherry into the sauce per serving. Since fruit always goes well with indian curry: why not?
What do you think? Unlike the broccoli, I would mix the cherry into the sauce. Right at the end. Just to warm them up in the mixture. I will report my 1st try when done.

I made this WITHOUT the wine, and substituted the sambal with hot sauce (Texas Pete), and some garlic, and crushed red peppers. Absolutely delicious and it didn’t taste any different!!!
