Being a Bengali, I never appreciated when my mom made these dishes because I just wanted meat all the time; but being on my own now, I crave it since they’re so hard to come by in Indian restaurants. I’ll have to make this at home. Thanks for the recipe!

thinking of trying this with sea bream as pomfret isn’t that easy to get her in the UK (I think Chinese supermarket sells frozen, but I like fresh)!

You have used a different method to cook this dish but it works – absolutely delicious!
We are huge fans of your channel from Calcutta! You have managed to create a very modern dish using some key Bengali ingredients. We don’t usually put paanch phoron in mustard curries, but I am sure it will taste great. This tastes even better if you let the fish simmer in the sauce for a bit, but you probably chose this method for a prettier presentation. Loved it!

instead of mustard oil can i used sunflower oil.
DO NOT…I repeat DO NOT cut the fins of a pomfret. The fins of pomfret has a lot of flavour.
