If you love Mozzarella Sticks, you have to try this recipe. I suggest that you use a softer mozzarella cheese rather than the pre made cheese sticks. Freezing these cheese sticks before you fry them is imperative. If you don’t freeze them, the cheese will end up melting before they are fully cooked. Mozzarella sticks should be eaten within 10 minutes, or the cheese will start to get firm
Ingredients needed for Mozzarella sticks:
Mozzarella Cheese
Flour (enough to coat)
Italian Seasoning (to taste)
Onion Powder (to taste)
Garlic Powder (to Taste)
Panko Bread Crumbs (Start with one cup) may need to do a couple of batches as bread clumps up
2 eggs
2 Tbsp. Milk
Canola or vegetable oil (to cover at least 1/2 way. can also use enough to completely cover)
Directions for Mozzarella Sticks:
Cut mozzarella cheese into strips
Add flour to a bowl and set aside
add garlic powder, onion powder and italian seasoning to bread crumbs and set aside
add about 2 tablespoons of whole milk to 2 eggs and wisk to combine
*Add sliced mozzarella cheese to flour and coat evenly
*Add flour coated mozzarella stick to milk and egg mixture and coat
*Add the egg coated mozzarella stick to bread crumbs and coat
*Place mozzarella stick in a freezer for at least 1 hour (otherwise the cheese will melt before fully cooked)
*15 minutes before mozzarella sticks are removed from freezer heat oil to 350 to 360 degrees.
*Remove mozzarella cheese sticks from oven and fry in cooking oil until golden brown.
